Adjunct Instructor of Foreign Languages and Cultures
David Hatch is an adjunct instructor in the School of Languages, Cultures, and Race. He has been a teacher educator for 12 years and then a general education professor at Le Cordon Bleu Culinary College for 7 years teaching psychology and English composition. His area of research is on how exposure to violence affects learning and development, especially the violence of poverty. His book Violence and Teachers provided evidence that classroom teachers are often not equipped or trained to work with children (and adults) who have been exposed to violence. He continues to research and advocate for victims of violence including adults and children faced with interpersonal violence (bullying) in the classroom and the workplace. He brings his unique knowledge base to SLCR to teach For Lang 120, Introductions to Foreign Cultures through the lens of poverty.
