John Streamas, associate professor of CES, has taught Yubi in class and nominated her to receive the Inclusive Excellence Award.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;She is a very independent thinker and yet a compassionate thinker\u2014community minded,&#8221; Streamas said. &#8220;She writes elegantly and clearly &#8230; and she thinks powerfully.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A first-generation college student, Yubi has worked as a social justice peer educator on campus and advocated for marginalized people in the community.
