When I read the prompt ASFC chose for this year, I decided to paint the first thing that came to mind. The inspiration of “Imposter Girl” was a construct of various stories. The young woman in the painting is not me, nor is it anyone in particular. Instead, the young woman is a representation of all the multicultural women that feel like they will never be able to excel because of who they are and where they come from. In illustrating what minority women at WSU feel, I hoped that the WSU community would help support and motivate those who feel unworthy of success because of their skin color or ethnicity.
