What’s New in the SLCR

SLCR Students holding a WSU Cougar flagWe have been broadening our efforts and have increased participation in recruitment and retention activities for high school and transfer students, as well as current WSU students. Additionally, we are happy to announce that we offer four study abroad programs and have been working to increase participation in study abroad programs offered by our faculty through study abroad scholarship opportunities.

We actively pursue outreach to the community through annual events such as the Palouse French Film Festival, the Bollywood Film Festival, and the WSU Foreign Language Day, which specifically targets the recruitment of regional high school students who are currently studying a foreign language.

In addition, our course offerings have expanded to include a French Minor in conjunction with the Department of Apparel, Merchandising, Design and Textiles, Culture of France Through its Wines course, Spanish for the Health Professions, Spanish for Veterinarians, Spanish for Law Enforcement, and Spanish taught through WSU Extension. We believe in continual redesign of our curriculum to better meet the ever changing needs of our students.

Donations to the School of Languages, Cultures, and Race are an essential part of our resources in a time of shrinking state support for public higher education. Your generosity, however large or small, is deeply appreciated and helps us to attract and support the brightest students to our program while providing the most impactful learning experiences. Specifically, we have listed all of our available funds below.
